Natalie Jenkins is 17-years-old a senior at Northgate High School. She has been involved in music for 9 years and plays tenor sax, bari sax, bass clarinet and flute. At school she is in an award winning jazz band, marching band and wind ensemble Outside of school, Natalie is a member of the Rossmoor Big Band, is in a combo at the Berkeley Jazzschool and is the Mentorship program at SFjazz. She is also in several comminuty service groups and spends a lot of her time at volunteer events. Natalie plans to attend a four year college starting in the Fall of 2016 amnd hopes to be an elementary school teacher.
Natalie chose the topic of public school class sizes because she feels that it is an important topic throughout American society. In her school experience, she has her own class sizes from kindergarten to senior year, starting at around 23 students and gradually increasing to academic classes of 37 students. Natalie has really enjoyed researching and writing on this topic.
